CAPE has dropped its long time association with the CFP Board. CAPE no longer submits courses to the CFP Board for either approval or credit reporting.

CFP Certificants may independently submit their CAPE course completions to the CFP Board for CE acceptance and banking by accessing

For many, many years CAPE maintained its CFP Continuing Education Sponsor status while gladly paying the stipulated fees for both the provider status and for each insurance CE course submitted for CFP approval.

CAPE would then provide electronic credit reporting to the CFP Board for courses completed by the individual CFP Certificants at a modest cost of $10 per course completion reported. As an insurance continuing education provider credentialed inall 50 states and the District of Columbia, this very popular CAPE service provided a very efficient mechanism for the CFP Certificants to complete and reported both their state required and CFP CE credits. CAPE's nominal $10 per course fee was used to offset the CFP Board fees paid by CAPE.

Following the move of the CFP's offices from Denver to Washington, DC, the various fees for both CFP CE Sponsors and CFP Certificants have increase dramatically. During this time frame, the CFP Board has from time to time either accepted, discouraged, encouraged or would not allow CE self reporting of CFP Board approved CFP CE Sponsor courses completed with the CFP CE Sponsors by CFP Certificants. At the same time, the fees charged to CFP Certificants by the CFP Board have ranged from free to $25 for self reporting of CE course completions.

The CFP Board has advised that self reported credits are subject to audit by the CFP Board; whereas, CFP CE Sponsor reported credits are not audited.

We, here at CAPE, suggest a solution to streamline the process and provide a better service to the CFP Certificants would require CE credit reporting by CFP CE Sponsors to the CFP Board for all CFP approved courses and only permit self reporting of non-CFP approved courses.

In the future, if the policies of the CFP Board for both the CFP Certificants and the CFP Continuing Education Sponsors can be stabilized in a fashion that will facilitate the efficient transfer of the course completion information to the CFP Board, CAPE would like to re-establish itself as aCFP Continuing Education Sponsor.

Thank you for looking to CAPE for your education needs.
