COURSE
DESCRIPTION
The financing of real estate transactions is an important
function in America’s economy. Home ownership
is a key component in the health of our economy, and
is arguably the most significant purchase many individuals
make.
In this course, the key elements of real estate
finance are discussed. First, the history of real
estate financing in the United States is explored.
Next, the primary mortgage market, where financing
begins, is examined. An in-depth view of the secondary
mortgage market follows. The process that occurs
in case of default or foreclosure of a mortgage is
then discussed. The course concludes with a look
at the current trends in real estate finance.
