Continuing Education (CE) Requirements
This
information is intended to provide answers to commonly asked
questions by insurance agents. It is not intended to replace
detailed information found in your state’s statutes and
regulations. Though we have made reasonable efforts to ensure

**Important
Changes Regarding Renewal Process For Connecticut Licensed Producers**
- Licenses
will now expire on the producer’s
birthday
- License renewal fee increases to $80.00 for each biennium
- Individuals
with License numbers 1080000 and below for a fee of $40.00 will receive
a renewal license dated February
1, 2006, expiring on the
producer’s birthday in 2007. It will renew every 2 years thereafter
on the producer’s birthday. Resident producers will be required
to complete 12 hours of CE prior to the 2007 renewal date.
- Individuals
with License numbers 1080001 and above, for a fee of $80.00 will
receive a renewal license dated February
1, 2006, expiring on the
producer’s birthday in 2008. It will renew every 2 years thereafter
on the producer’s birthday. Resident producers will be required
to complete 24 hours of CE prior to the 2008 renewal date.

Exam
Requirements
The Connecticut Department of Insurance requires that a disinterested
third party (an impartial disinterested person who shall not be in direct
line of supervision of any person taking the examination, nor have any
financial interest in the success of any person taking the examination)
monitor all self-study final exams.

Course
Subject Requirements
• At
least 3 hours must be in Connecticut Insurance Laws and Regulations
and/or Ethics
• At least 6 hours must be taken in each line for which the producer
is licensed (LH, PC, and Variable)
• The remaining hours may be completed by taking any approved courses
For Example,
if you hold all three lines you will need 3 LRE credits, 6 LH
credits, 6 PC credits, 9 elective credits = 24. Carryover
Credits
Excess CE credit hours may not be carried over to the next
reporting period.
Course
Repetition
Courses may not be taken more than once in each reporting period.
Exemptions
• Producers licensed for only travel or credit
• Non-resident agents are not required to complete continuing education
in Connecticut. License compliance data is sent to the state of Connecticut directly
therefore,
nonresidents no longer need to supply evidence of completion of continuing education
in their home state Credit
Reporting
Cape will submit your credit hours to Promissor within 15 calendar
days of the completion of the course. DO NOT SEND course completion
certificates to Promissor, they are provided for your personal
records only.
