DELAWARE Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

This information is intended to provide answers to commonly asked questions by insurance agents. It is not intended to replace detailed information found in your state’s statutes and regulations. Hours Required

• 24 credit hours of continuing education must be completed, biennially
• Adjusters are required to complete 12 credit hours of continuing education, biennially

02/28, biennially

Approved Course Delivery Methods

• Independent self-study online or written courses (passing grade of 70% required on final exam)
• Classroom
• Interactive Online
• Seminar

Exam Requirements

Self-study final exams require no monitor.

Course Subject Requirements

• All agents must complete 4 hours in ethics.
• Resident producers that hold a health license and solicit long term care policies, must complete at least 3 hours of training in Delaware long-term care insurance.

Carryover Credits

A maximum of 5 hours may be carried over to the next reporting period. However, carryover credits do not apply to the ethics credit requirement.

Course Repetition

Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in a compliance period.

Exemptions

• Individuals who are only licensed for title or public carrier insurance.
• Newly licensed individuals are exempt for the biennium in which the license is issued.
• Individuals continuously licensed for 25 years or more and/or who hold a CPU, CPCU or other professional designation with annual education requirements receive an automatic credit of 12 hours biennially. (These credits will not satisfy the ethics requirement.)

Credit Reporting

Delaware agents are fully responsible for submitting their own CE credits. CAPE will provide a certificate of completion, from which you must transfer, the information onto the DE summary report and then submit it to the insurance department before the renewal deadline.
