GEORGIA
Continuing Education (CE) Requirements
This information is intended to provide answers to commonly
asked questions by insurance agents. It is not intended to
replace
detailed information found in your state’s statutes and
regulations. Though we have made reasonable efforts to ensure
that the information given is reliable and current, we cannot

Hours Required
• Agents licensed less than 20 years require 15 credit hours
annually.
• Agents licensed 20 years or more require 10 credit hours annually.
• Limited sub-agents and credit licensees require 5 credit hours
annually.
• CPCU, CLU, FLMI, CIC, CEBS, CHFC, or AAI designees need 6 hours
CE Compliance Date All agents must complete their CE requirements on or before
12/31 annually; to avoid possible lapse in licensure it is recommended
that it be completed prior to 11/01. Approved Course Delivery Methods • Independent
self-study online or written courses (passing grade of 70%
required on final exam)

• Seminar Exam Requirements Self-study final exams require a monitor. It should be a disinterested
third party (i.e. someone with no business or family relationship
to the examinee.) Course Subject Requirements • All
licensees (excluding subagents) must complete 3 hours of ethics
annually.
• All other courses completed must be in the approved for the line
of insurance the licensee holds.
• For individuals holding a limited subagent license in addition
to an agent license, not more than 5 credits hours can come from
courses related to the line(s) of insurance of the limited subagent
license. Carryover Credits Up to 7 hours of CE may be carried over to the next reporting
period. However, ethics credits may not be carried over. Course Repetition Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in a 5-year period. Courses on current issues, ethics, or legislative updates may be repeated as long as they are NOT completed within the same calendar year.
Exemptions
• Newly
licensed individuals who completed the Georgia pre-license
education
requirement are exempt for the first reporting
period.
• Individuals who hold a professional designation (other than CLU,
CPCU, FLMI, CIC, CEBS, CHFC, or AAI) may request CE credit from
the insurance department for the number of CE hours completed
for the designation.
• A reduction of hours may be requested for time spent on insurance-related
activities during the previous reporting period, including teaching,
legislative, journalistic and research activities.
• Individuals who hold a non-active license because they have been
licensed as an agent for 10 consecutive years or more and do
not perform any insurance functions other than receiving renewal
or deferred commissions. Credit Reporting
CAPE
will report credits to SIRCON within 30 days of course
completion.
A course
completion certificate is provided for the
agent’s records.
