INDIANA Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

This information is intended to provide answers to commonly asked questions by insurance agents. It is not intended to replace detailed information found in your state’s statutes and regulations. Though we have made reasonable efforts to ensure that the information given is reliable and current, we cannot guarantee that it is. Hours Required

• Residents currently holding a four year license will need to complete at least 40 hours of continuing education for their four-year license before renewing and obtaining a two year license.
• Resident insurance producers licensed after July 1, 2007 will have to complete 20 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
• Resident limited lines agents (i.e. funeral, crop or hail) must complete at least 5 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
• Resident title agents must complete at least 7 hours of continuing education during the two-year license term.

Compliance Date

Thirty days prior to the license renewal date, which is the last day of the license issuance month, every four years.

Approved Course Delivery Methods

• Independent self-study online or written courses (passing grade of 70% required on final exam)
• Classroom
• Interactive Online
• Seminar

Exam Requirements

Self-study exams require a licensed agent to monitor the exam.

Course Subject Requirements

There are no course subject requirements; agents may take any Indiana approved courses, with the exception of those licensed to sell LTC. They must complete 8 hours of LTC education.

Carryover Credits

Carryover credits are not allowed.

Course Repetition

Credit will not be given for a course that is repeated within a 2 or 4-year licensing period.

Exemptions

• Nonresidents are exempt if the agent meets their home state CE requirement.
• Agents who no longer solicit insurance but maintain a license to collect commissions on business written while active.

Credit Reporting

Cape will submit your credit hours to Sircon within 30 calendar days of the completion of the course. DO NOT SEND course completion certificates to Sircon, they are provided for your personal records only.
