MISSOURI Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

This information is intended to provide answers to commonly asked questions by insurance agents. It is not intended to replace detailed information found in your state’s statutes and regulations. Hours Required

• 10 credit hours biennially, for a single line license
• 16 credit hours biennially, for agents who hold both LH and PC licenses

Compliance Date

License issuance date, biennially

Approved Course Delivery Methods

• Online self-study courses (passing grade of 70% required on final exam)
• Classroom
• Interactive Online

Exam Requirements

Self-study final exams must be monitored by a disinterested 3rd party (i.e. someone who has no business or family connection with the student.)

Course Subject Requirements

Courses must be approved for the line of insurance that the licensee holds.

Carryover Credits

Excess CE credit hours may be carried over to the next reporting period.

Course Repetition

Courses may not be taken more than once in each reporting period.

Exemptions

• Travel insurance agents who are representatives of a common carrier
• Any person who sells credit life, accident & health or property insurance in connection with a loan.
• Persons who sell only title insurance
• Any person who sells only pre-arranged funeral plan insurance
• Any person who is at least 70 years old.

Credit Reporting

Agents need to transfer information from their certificate of completion, provided by Cape, to Missouri’s summary report form. This form must be submitted, along with the license renewal form and fee, to the Department of Insurance.
