MISSISSIPPI Continuing Education (CE) Requirements
This information is intended to provide answers to commonly asked
questions by insurance agents. It is not intended to replace detailed
information found in your state’s statutes and regulations.

Hours Required
• Life, Accident and Health licensees must complete 12 hours annually
• Property and Casualty licensees must complete 12 hours annually
• Combined LAH and PC licensees must complete a minimum of 12 hours in their primary line of insurance, which is determined by the licensee and reported on the renewal application. Licensees are encouraged to complete an additional 12 hours in their secondary line.
• Adjusters licensees must complete 12 hours annually
Compliance Date
• 12/31, annually – Life, Accident and Health
• 05/31, annually – Property and Casualty
• 05/31, annually - Adjusters
Approved Course Delivery Methods
• Online self-study courses (passing grade
of 70% required on final exam)
• Classroom
• Interactive Online
Exam Requirements
All final examinations must be monitored by a disinterested 3rd party (i.e. someone who has no business or family connection with the student).
Course Subject Requirements
• All courses must be completed in the lines of insurance for which the producer is licensed.
• All Mississippi licensed resident insurance producers who sell federal flood insurance policies shall be required to complete a one time 3 hour requirement on flood insurance
Carryover Credits
Excess CE credit hours may not be carried over to the next reporting period.
Course Repetition
Courses may not be taken more than once in a three-year period.
Exemptions
• Inactive agents
• Producers holding the limited licenses of industrial fire, industrial LAH, credit life, credit A&H, vehicle physical damage or credit property.
• Newly licensed producers are exempt for the reporting period in which the license was issued.
Non-Residents
Non-residents are exempt if the agent meets the continuing education requirements of their home state. Otherwise the agent must complete the requirements of Mississippi.
Credit Reporting
Agents are required to submit their certificates of completion with their renewal forms. Producers should keep copies of their certificates of completion for a minimum of 5 years. Cape will report your continuing education credits to Sircon within 15 days of course completion.
