NEBRASKA Continuing Education (CE) Requirements
This information is intended to provide answers to commonly asked questions
by insurance agents. It is not intended to replace detailed information found
in your state’s statutes and regulations. Though we have made reasonable

Hours Required
• Life and Annuities: 6 hours biennially
• Sickness, Accident and Health: 6 hours biennially
• Life, Sickness, Accident and Health: 12 hours biennially
• Variable Contracts: 6 hours biennially
• Property and Casualty: 24 hours biennially
• Combined LH/PC: 24 hours biennially
• Personal Lines PC: 21 hours biennially
• Consultants (Public Adjusters): 21 hours biennially
• Domestic Assessment Association: 12 hours biennially
• Title: 6 hours biennially
• Crop or Fidelity and Surety: 3 hours biennially
• Remainder of limited lines (that are not exempt): 6 hours biennially
Compliance Date
45 days prior to the license renewal date, which is the last day
of the agents birth month, biennially.

Exam Requirements
State regulations require all self-study exams to be monitored by a disinterested third pary.
Course Subject Requirements
• Courses must be approved for the
lines of insurance for which license is held.
• In addition to the basic requirement, licensees must complete 3
hours in insurance-related ethics.
• Individuals licensed for crop only, fidelity and surety only or
title insurance only must complete an additional three hours in
insurance-related ethics.
Carryover Credits
Excess credit hours may not be carried over to the next reporting
period.
Course Repetition
Courses (including courses approved to meet the ethics requirement)
may not be taken for credit more than once in a four-year period.
Exemptions
• Individuals who hold a limited-lines
license for credit life/credit accident and health, auto mechanical
breakdown, prepaid
legal, motor club, prepaid dental, health maintenance organization
or unemployment credit insurance.
• Individuals licensed less than two years at the time of the first
CE compliance date are exempt for that first reporting period.
• Nonresidents are exempt.
Credit Reporting
When the agent completes their CE, they must submit their original
certificate of completion, which is provided by Cape, with their
renewal fee to the Department of Insurance.
