SOUTH CAROLINA Continuing Education (CE) Requirements

Hours Required
24 hours biennially - Effective with the May 1, 2008 renewals: All South Carolina resident producers are required to complete three (3) credit hours of ethics each biennial compliance period. Producers are required to complete the ethics course requirement by May 1, 2008 and each compliance period thereafter. A copy of the Ethics Bulletin can be downloaded from the Department's home page at http://www.doi.sc.gov.

Exam Requirements
Self-study
final exams are required to be monitored by a state approved

Course Subject Requirements
· A minimum of 8 hours must be completed in each lines of authority held by the agent.
· All agents must complete 3 credit hours of courses approved in ethics.
· All agents licensed in property and casualty or personal lines who may sell flood insurance must complete a one-time 3 credit hour course dealing with flood insurance and the NFIP.
Carryover Credits
A maximum of 18 hours earned in the second year of a reporting
period may be carried over to the next reporting period.
Course Repetition
Courses may not be taken more than once in a three-year period.
Exemptions
· Individuals
licensed only for credit life, credit accident and health, credit
property, crop hail, auto physical damage, mortgage
guaranty, mortgage, title, travel accident and baggage, or federal
crop insurance.
· Individuals who are least 55 years old and have been licensed for
at least 20 years at the time of compliance.
· Newly licensed individuals are exempt for the biennium in which
the license is issued.
· Non-resident agents if their home state has CE requirements
Credit Reporting
Cape will submit your credit hours to Experior within 30 calendar
days of the completion of the course. DO NOT SEND course completion
certificates to Experior, they are provided for your personal records
only.
